Representing Our Community
Your Community Councillors
Community Councillors are local elected volunteers who act on the best interests of the community. They can take part in activities that might benefit their area and organise campaigns to create awareness on local issues. Community Councils have a statutory right to be consulted on planning issues, meaning that they are notified of any local planning issues and are given the opportunity to respond to the plans.
Community Councillors are elected for a three year term, the last election being held in May 2017. The maximum membership of each Community Council is set by the City of Edinburgh Council. For Craigmillar Community Council, sixteen local representatives may be elected and eight representatives from local groups or organisations, taking the total membership to twenty-four.
